Applies to: People asking what a tracking pixel is for

Does the Facebook pixel show me who visited my website?

Not mainly. The Facebook pixel builds audiences and gives the ad platform data. It learns from all the traffic that reaches your website, from any source, not only from people who saw your ads, so it gets smarter over time. When someone saw your ad and then visited your site or filled out a form, Facebook uses that for attribution: it knows your ad was responsible.

Because Facebook learns from who visits, do not send friends and family to a new site once the pixel is on it. Facebook has no data on a new site and will treat those visitors as your ideal customer. Give it good data from the start, ideally with first visits from your ideal clients.

To see who is visiting your site, use Votel's Visitor ID pixel. It can capture visitors as leads even if they never fill out a form.
